As soon as the final school bell rang last May, Broken Arrow Public Schools’ plant operations department began to transfer all building and office furniture to the cafeteria and gym in preparation to renovate and expand the building for students and staff.
Sequoyah Middle School will see many additions and renovations, including a new, larger cafeteria and fine arts space. The old cafeteria will be converted to a media center and is located near the front of the school. The fine arts space will provide a tornado safe room. The school’s interior will also be completely remodeled and brought up to current ADA accessibility requirements. Currently, contractors are working to complete the middle hallway as well as the two-story areas. These updates are expected to be complete by Aug. 15.
Because a majority of Sequoyah Middle School is still under construction, students, parents and staff are being asked to refrain from entering the building for the remainder of the summer.
