On Tuesday, Oct. 15, all 9th and 10th graders at Early College Academy will take the PreACT assessment. This important test sets a foundational baseline for high school students, helping them begin their journey toward college and career readiness. A composite score of 19 or better on this test will qualify students for TCC admission.
Although Juniors and Seniors taking TCC classes will still have classes on this day, it will be a distance learning day for Early College Academy students not taking the test. These students will complete coursework at home.
This year, the PreACT will be conducted on paper and will include multiple-choice questions across four subjects: English, reading, math, and science. The PreACT evaluates the same skills and knowledge areas as the ACT, which students in Oklahoma take in the 11th grade.
Taking the PreACT in 9th and 10th grade gives Broken Arrow students the opportunity to address areas that need improvement well before they take the ACT. Additionally, students will receive personalized career insights based on their responses to the ACT Interest Inventory. This assessment will also assist teachers, students, and parents in making informed decisions about high school course selections.
A few weeks after the test, students will receive their score reports, along with their test booklets and individual responses, allowing them to compare their answers with the correct ones. The score report will highlight specific areas where students can focus on improving.
On test day, students should bring two sharpened No. 2 pencils with good erasers. While a calculator is optional, it can be brought along as well—though it isn’t necessary to answer any of the test questions. Please refer to the ACT Calculator Policy for more details.
Additionally, students are encouraged to take advantage of the Free Online Test Prep activities and tips offered by ACT to help them prepare.
